Impact on performance

Transmission stability:
With high-precision powder metallurgy gears, their tooth shape, tooth pitch and other parameters are closer to the design value. During the transmission process, the meshing between the gears is closer and more stable, which can effectively reduce vibration and noise. On the contrary, low-precision gears will cause impact and vibration when the gears mesh due to tooth error and uneven pitch, affecting the stability of the transmission, especially in the case of high-speed transmission, this effect is more obvious.

Transmission efficiency:
High-precision gears can achieve more ideal tooth surface contact, less friction during meshing, and relatively little power loss, thus improving transmission efficiency. For gears with insufficient accuracy, poor contact with the tooth surface will lead to increased friction, which will not only reduce the transmission efficiency, but also cause the gear to heat up, further affecting its performance.

Bearing capacity:
Powder metallurgical gears with high precision, accurate tooth shape, uniform contact stress distribution of tooth surface, can better withstand load. Under the condition of transmitting the same torque, the tooth surface wear and deformation of high-precision gears are less, and failure forms such as tooth surface bonding and tooth root breakage are not easy to occur, so they can withstand greater loads. Low-precision gears are prone to local excessive wear or fatigue damage due to the concentration of contact stress on the tooth surface, which limits the bearing capacity of the gear.

Impact on life expectancy
Tooth surface wear:
High-precision gears, low tooth surface roughness and high meshing accuracy, and the wear between the tooth surfaces is less when moving relative. This is because good tooth surface contact allows the load to be evenly distributed, reducing the possibility of local wear. Gears with poor accuracy have a large tooth surface roughness, and the tooth shape error will lead to poor contact with the tooth surface, which is prone to local wear and aggravation, thus shortening the service life of the gear.

Fatigue life:
During the working process of high-precision gears, due to the stable transmission, the alternating stress on the tooth surface is relatively small and evenly distributed, and it is not easy to produce fatigue cracks. Due to the large vibration and impact of low-precision gears, the stress on the tooth surface fluctuates greatly, and it is easy to produce fatigue cracks on the root, tooth surface and other parts. With the expansion of the cracks, it will eventually lead to the failure of the gear, which significantly reduces the fatigue life of the gear.

Lubrication performance:
High-precision gears, whose tooth surface accuracy helps to form a good lubricating oil film, plays an effective role in lubrication and heat dissipation, and reduces the possibility of tooth surface wear and bonding. Gears with low accuracy, uneven tooth surface and meshing error will destroy the continuity of the lubricating oil film, affect the lubrication effect, accelerate the wear and failure of the gear, and thus shorten its service life.
